The Quiet One That Works Everywhere

Small text is the underdog of fancy fonts. It doesn't scream like gothic or swirl like cursive — ɪᴛ ᴊᴜꜱᴛ ʟᴏᴏᴋꜱ ᴄʟᴇᴀɴ. And precisely because it's built from old, well-supported Unicode blocks (small caps come mostly from the phonetic alphabet), it renders correctly on more devices and passes more username filters than any other style on this site. When people ask me which style to use for a game that keeps rejecting their nickname, the answer is almost always small caps.

The generator above gives you a few different tools in one place: ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ (lowercase letters shaped like capitals), ᵗʰᵉ ˢᵘᵖᵉʳˢᶜʳⁱᵖᵗ style that floats above the line, the subscript variant that hangs below it, and upside-down text (uʍop ǝpᴉsdn), which is pure fun and a surprisingly old internet tradition.

What Each Variant Is Good For

  • Small caps: nicknames, bios, watermark-style signatures. The most professional-looking option here.
  • Superscript: side notes and whispered asides in captions — ᵗʰᵉ ᵗᵉˣᵗᵘᵃˡ ᵉqᵘⁱᵛᵃˡᵉⁿᵗ ᵒᶠ ᵐᵘᵐᵇˡⁱⁿᵍ. TikTok comments love this one.
  • Upside-down: attention bait. One flipped word in a tweet gets people to physically rotate their phone. Use sparingly.

Honest Limitations

Superscript is missing a few letters in Unicode (there's no true superscript q, for instance), so some words come out slightly uneven. Small caps has no capital-vs-lowercase distinction — everything becomes uniform height. And as with all converted text, don't put critical info (a promo code, a link) in small text: it can't be searched and screen readers may skip it. For anything that must display identically for everyone, hit the camera icon and export the PNG version instead.

Small caps pairs surprisingly well with a single symbol accent — browse the symbols page for something minimal like ✦ or ─. If you want more contrast in a bio, combine a bold headline with small-caps detail lines. All 140+ styles live on the main generator.
